Case Manager Responsibilities for Pregnancy Update

If you are a cash case manager, you should monitor your Assessed Person Potential Changes views daily.  The Pregnancy view provides a list of household members, including sanctioned and ineligible noncitizen parents, with expired due dates in a TAFDC assistance unit.

If 30 days after the pregnancy due date on the Pregnancy page in the AU Composition Details workflow for a TAFDC, EAEDC or SNAP household member, no change has been entered on the pregnancy status, the household member will automatically be sent a Pregnancy Information Update notice.

For TAFDC and EAEDC, if the client/head of household or household member does not contact DTA to update her pregnancy status within 10 days of the notice date, the TAFDC or EAEDC case will be automatically closed for failing to submit the required verification. See Automating Clients’ Pregnancy Status Update.

Case Actions

You must review all reported changes in the household’s circumstances, according to the respective programs’ requirements.  This includes, but is not limited to, TAFDC, EAEDC and SNAP work requirements or exemptions and TAFDC time-limited benefits.

If the client/head of household calls in response to the household member receiving a Pregnancy Information Update notice, receiving the closing notice for failing to verify or for any unrelated case action:

  1. Ask the client about the pregnancy status of the household member
  2. Access the Pregnancy page. Change the status to No
  3. Schedule an appointment for the client from the Schedule Appointment page to come to the TAO to update the household’s circumstances, following established policy and procedures for the respective TAFDC, EAEDC and SNAP programs.  See SNAP Reporting Requirements and Recertifications.
    1. Note: If a TAFDC or EAEDC case(s) is closed, do not reopen the cash case until the client keeps the appointment. When the cash case closed, the SNAP became Non Public Assistance (NPA) SNAP.

  4. If the case(s) is pending to close, remove the closing. A case closing will be initiated again if the client does not keep the scheduled appointment
  5. Wrap-up the actions on the Interview Wrapup page and
  6. Write a narrative on the Narrative tab about the case status and case actions performed.

If the client/head of household comes to the TAO in response to receiving the Pregnancy Information Update notice, the closing notice for failing to verify or for any unrelated case action:

  1. Ask about the pregnancy status of the household member
  2. If the case is pending to close, remove the closing
  3. If the case is closed, reopen the case(s), following established policy and procedures for the respective TAFDC, EAEDC and SNAP program and
  4. Add the newborn to the case(s), if appropriate, following established policy and procedures for the respective TAFDC, EAEDC and SNAP program
  5. Wrap-up the actions on the Interview Wrapup page and
  6. Write a narrative on the Narrative tab about the case status and case actions performed.
