Verification of Immigration Status - SNAP
At application, the applicant must provide documentation of immigration status only for household members applying for benefits. Once provided, the information must be verified through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system. This is done by accessing the SAVE system, selecting the Create New Case button in the SAVE system, and completing the request form. Once submitted, the system will verify the information or, in certain circumstances, prompt the user to institute a secondary verification. Sponsor deeming information may also be requested on the request additional verification window of SAVE.
At recertification, you must review the noncitizen status of pertinent household members to determine if there is a change to eligibility status. For example: an LPR child turning 18 and who has resided as a qualified noncitizen for less than 5 years, will no longer meet eligibility as an LPR. At recertification, the worker must review the case and explore potential eligibility with the grantee if it appears that the noncitizen will lose eligibility.
