TAO Director or Designee Responsibilities

The TAO director or designee must ensure that the Do You Need an Interpreter? poster and Visual Communication Board are prominently displayed in the reception area of the office and that the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Services Binder is readily available to staff working in the reception area.  

The director or designee must also ensure that TAO staff are familiar with three-way calling procedures, as well as how to access in-person, telephonic, and other interpreter services.

The director or designee must be familiar with the procedures for obtaining American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters for clients who require them.

When staff make requests for in-person interpreters and video interpreters for virtual meetings, the TAO director or designee is responsible for forwarding requests to their appropriate points of contact in a timely manner.

TAO managers must ensure that a secure Video Remote Interpreter (VRI) interview room is established and kept in working order in their TAO. Instructions on how to use VRI must be displayed in that room for staff ease of use.

Interpreter Usage Tracking Report

The TAO director or designee are to ensure that staff are utilizing interpreter services appropriately. They must ensure that feedback given by staff using Lionbridge for interpreter services is submitted timely through the Lionbridge Feedback Log.
