Authorizing Work or School Rule Sanctions
FEWs and SSSs will remove pending or authorized sanctions once successful reengagement has been completed. If reengagement efforts are not successful, a sanction must be authorized for clients who have not reengaged and cooperated with work rules, or been approved for good cause with the Department as required.
If a client is not meeting the work rules and a pending sanction is authorized, it will result in a reduction in benefits for that member. If the client does not reengage for an additional month, it will then result in a TAFDC case closure.
FEWs and SSSs will review system-initiated sanctions for Needs to Meet Work/School Rules on the Clients with Pending Work/School Rule Sanctions view. These cases will display when BEACON has created a pending sanction for a client subject to work or school rules :
- on the Monday before the last Saturday of each month, there is no active Pathways to Work Plan
- if on the 18th of the reporting month, DTA has not calculated a client’s engagement or participation, their engagement or participation reported did not meet the approved Plan, or a client’s employment does not meet their required hours
Important: A pending or authorized sanction must be removed as soon as the Department has information that the client is cooperating, has good cause or is determined to have been applied in error.
After review of the case and completing all reengagement expectations, if it is determined that a pending sanction for Needs to Meet Work/School Rules must be authorized, FEWs and SSSs must
- go to the Interview Wrapup page,
- on the Interview Wrapup Selection page, select the Program/Client to be included
- after selecting the data which will be included in the EBC calculation, click Finish.
- to perform a calculation click EBC Results.
- on the Interview Wrapup EBC Results page click Calculate
- click Finish.
to authorize the request, select Interview Wrapup Authorization and Approve.
Once the Authorization has been Approved by a TAO Supervisor, the status will change to Pending Release.
