Temporary Absence Page in BEACON TAFDC
Use the Temporary Absence page in the AU Composition Details workflow to record information about a household member with a Present status on the Household page in the Household Composition workflow who is or will be temporarily absent from the household.
The Temporary Absence page is enabled during the Q & A Navigator at application, reevaluation and at any time you need to enter or update temporary absence information.
Information entered on the page is for a specific household member, identified by name, date of birth and SSN at the bottom of the Temporary Absence page.
To record a household member as temporarily absent:
- click the Temporary Absence page
- select the appropriate household member from the member list icon in the upper left corner
- answer the question in the question box at the top of the page: “Is this household member temporarily absent?” (The question is visible by moving the cursor over a Temporary Absence radio button)
- click the Yes radio button
- enter the start date of the absence in the Start field
- select the reason for the absence from the Reason drop-down list
- if the reason is not listed, enter the reason for the absence in the Other field
- enter the expected end date of the absence in the Expected end field

Note: If more than one household member is temporarily absent, repeat steps 1 through 8 for each one.

- click Next to save your entries and go to the next page in the workflow, and
- create reminders regarding the temporary absence on the sticky notes yellow note pad on the Workflow tab in the Electronic Case Folder (ECF) or a reminder on your calendar on the Home page
At the end of the temporary absence period, generate an appointment letter from the Schedule Appointments page to review eligibility and request appropriate verifications, including current proof of residence.
If the client does not appear for the appointment, initiate action to close the entire case by:
- going to the AU Composition Results page of the AU Composition Details workflow
- selecting the client by clicking the check box next to his or her name
- clicking the AU tab
- selecting the Reason category of Residency
- selecting the (closing) Reason of No longer MA resident
- clicking Save
- clicking Finish, and
- authorizing the closing on the Interview Wrapup page
