Employment Status - Client is not Employed
Employment information from recent employment (within the past 90 days) must be entered on the Employment Status page. If Yes or No is answered to the employment question in the Income and Expenses Q & A Navigator “Are you or is anyone in your Assistance Unit(s) currently employed or has been employed in the last 90 days including self-employment?” when you reach the Employment Status page, the Yes/No radio button will be prepopulated. The Employment Status page will require completion. To complete the Employment Status when the client answers No in the Employment question of the Income and Expenses Q & A Navigator:
- from the Reason not employed drop-down list, select a reason. If Other is selected as a reason, enter that reason in Other reason not employed
- from the Justification drop-down list, select why the Reason not employed happened. If Other is selected, enter that reason in Other justification
- if the client was employed in the last 12 months, click the Yes radio button in the Employed last 12 field, otherwise click No
- enter the total gross income earned in the last 12 months in Total earned last 12
- if the client was offered health insurance in the last 12 months, click the Yes radio button in the Health insurance offered last 12 field, otherwise click No. However, do not enter anything in this field unless you have entered Yes in the Employed last 12 field
- click Next
The client must apply for unemployment benefits if he or she was either laid off from a job or had his or her hours reduced, through no fault of his or her own. You must also explore with the client whether he or she has any vacation, sick or personal leave for which he or she will be subsequently paid.
Note: For children under age 14, Employment Status is automatically set to Never Employed.
