Welcome Call

Full Engagement Workers (FEWs) will complete a Welcome Call to any client who is referred to them within 5 days to introduce themselves, their role and discuss Pathways to Work Planning activities and available opportunities and supports.

Upon receiving the Initial Engagement action, the FEW will attempt two cold calls, with all attempts documented in the case narrative. If contact is made, the date must be captured on the Pathways to Work Planning Activities page.

The Welcome Call is a starting point for the FEW to get to know the client, their goals and potential challenges and set expectations for exploring and enrolling in a Pathways to Work activity. For clients who are subject to work rules, but are already enrolled in an activity or working, the FEW must determine if any additional supports are needed and that a Pathways Plan is completed.

Self Sufficiency Specialists will ensure that Planning Activities including the Welcome Call are completed following TAFDC case approval or when developing a Pathways to work plan.

If contact is not made for a client subject to work rules, a telephonic Case Maintenance appointment is to be scheduled 5 days from the last cold call attempt to complete both the Welcome Call and a telephonic TAFDC Orientation. If a client does not have an active contact number, has an ADA accommodation approved for in-person services, has HLS and it was determined it is not safe to call an in-office case maintenance appointment must be scheduled.

The Welcome Call is to be attempted telephonically, but client communication may also be supported by email, or virtual meeting, based on the client’s preference.
