Completing a Pathways to Work Plan
Full Engagement Workers (FEWs) and Self Sufficiency Specialists (SSSs) will use the Pathways to Work workflow to:
- document Planning activities,
- create program referrals,
- and approve Pathways to Work Plans developed with clients as part of their education or career pathway.
A complete Pathways to Work Plan includes:
- completing and recording all Planning activities,
- an active Activity Referral,
- and the support services DTA is providing.
For clients subject to work or school rules, a client must have a Pathways to Work Plan and confirm their participation each month to meet those rules.
The following workflow pages must be completed to generate an active Pathways to Work Plan:
Planning Activities
Any client who is subject to work or school rules or is volunteering to participate in Pathways to Work activities must complete an orientation and have goal setting activities completed. All fields must be completed on this page. See Recording Pathways to Work Planning Activities.
Activity Status
There must be one or more active Activities, including employment, on the Activity Status page that indicates the expected hours the client will participate in that activity each week. See Issuing Activity Referrals and Updating Activity Status
Support Services
The DTA support services listed below must be recorded on the Pathways to Work Plan. Answers will be printed on the Pathways to Work Plan.
- Child Care – the Child Care Support radio button must be completed to indicate whether the client is requesting or already receiving child care supports from DTA. If the radio button is set to yes, and a referral has already been issued the last DTA referral and referral type will display here. See Completing a Child Care Referral
- Transportation – the Eligible radio button will be pre-populated to indicate whether a client is eligible for transportation payments from DTA, based on their Pathways to Work eligibility or activity status. See Transportation – TAFDC
- Learning Disability – the Request radio button must be completed to indicate whether a client requests a Learning Disability Assessment. If the radio button is set to yes, and an Assessment has not already been completed, the Learning Disability page must be completed and additional steps taken to ensure the client is connected to Disability Evaluation Services (DES). See Learning Disability Assessment – TAFDC
Pathways Plan
When all the required pages above are completed, the Pathways Plan page will show:
- The Pathways Plan Start and End dates (If there is more than one active activity, the Plan end date will show as the activity that ends later), and
- the Status will show as Pending.
The Pathways Plan must then be approved.
Approving A Pathways Plan
- Click the Approve button and the Plan Approved date will populate in BEACON.
- Click Finish and a pop-up message will display “Pathways to Work Plan printed centrally.”
- Advise the client that their Pathways to Work Plan will be sent to them and is also available in the Client Communications tab.
Ending a Pathways Plan
If DTA receives information that a client is no longer participating in the activity/activities included in their Plan, they must ensure that outreach is attempted to determine next steps. If it is determined that the Plan will be ended:
- select the most appropriate Ended Reason from the drop-down selection,
- the date will populate to show the Plan Ended date
- click the End button, and
- click Finish.
