ADA Accommodation Process: Accommodation/Special Assistance CAC Referral Page

Once you are on the Accommodation/Special Assistance CAC Referral page:

  1. you must read the following:
    1. “Let me ask you a few questions about the help you may need. I can tell you if it is help I can give you quickly. Or you can talk about it with the Client Assistance Coordinator. S/he focuses on helping our clients who have health problems.”
  2. you must ask the client: “Do you want to be referred to the Client Assistance Coordinator (CAC)?”
  3. click the Yes or No Radio Button based on the client’s answer
  4. if the client expresses a preference to be seen by the CAC, a referral to the CAC must be made by clicking the Yes radio button and clicking either Local or Central in the CAC Referral Print Notice field. Every effort to locate a CAC and direct the client to that CAC will be made.
  5. once you click on the Yes/No radio button, you are brought to the Accommodation/Special Assistance Screening page after clicking Next. You must complete the accommodation screening process whether you are referring the client to the CAC or not; and
    1. Note: If you and the client are having difficulty completing the screening at any point – for example if the client really isn’t sure what type of disability he or she has or what type of help he or she may need, you must refer the client to the CAC at that point in the process and have the CAC complete the screening if the client consents.

  6. once the screening is completed, or the referral to the CAC is made, the remainder of the interview with the client (application, reevaluation, redetermination or case maintenance) can then be completed.
